Senior Kyle Gaumond represents NAHS to the best of his abilities in and out of athletics. Kyle is involved in the Leo Club, is a starting wide receiver and cornerback for the Red Rocketeers football team and a 2016 basketball captain.
“Being named a basketball captain for this season is really meaningful to me because I picked up basketball in high school,” Gaumond said. “I haven’t been playing since I was in elementary school like some kids.”
Kyle has proven to be a valuable cornerback and wide receiver. In the 2015 football season opener, Gaumond got a crucial pick six, an interception returned by the defense for a touchdown, in the 4th quarter versus Stoughton. This play went on to get him nominated for the Hockomock Sports Player of the Week award.
When asked about his athletic accomplishments, Gaumond said, “I love sports and I love North Attleboro. Being a part of a team at this school is special because Big Red is a family.”
Part of the reason for this family feel is the fact that both Kyle’s mother and brother are regular faces at NAHS. Kyle’s brother, Ryan, is a freshman who also plays football and basketball. Ryan credits his brother Kyle with his interest in the sport. “I really look up to Kyle as a role model. So do all of my friends.”
Kyle’s mother, Mrs. Gaumond, works at North Attleboro High School as an administrative assistant. Mrs. Gaumond says, “I love my job. The environment is great and I enjoy seeing the kids everywhere.”
