Theatre Company Brings Austen to North

by Carolyn Wallace

On November 20th and 21st, the NAHS Theatre Company will be performing the classic romantic comedy, “Pride and Prejudice,” by Jane Austen. The show begins at 7 pm in the Judith E. Cobb Theatre.

This classic play, set in 1811 England, presents the story of the Bennet family. Mrs. Bennet, played by senior Lyndsey Burtch, is hastily trying to marry off one of her five daughters- Jane, played by senior Nicole Boulanger, Elizabeth, played by senior Meredith Johnson, Mary, played by senior Olivia Pettengill, Kitty, played by senior Carolyn Wallace, and Lydia, played by senior Katie Irey. Mr. Bennet, played by junior Benjamin Wuesthoff, has left the entailment of the Bennet estate to his cousin, Mr. Collins, portrayed by sophomore Caleb Vargas- unless one of the daughters marries an upper-class man.

Through dances, quick scene-changes, and elegant costumes, the audience will see the classic novel brought to life on stage. The audition and rehearsal process began in late September- the actors and stage crew have been preparing for almost 2 months for this show.

Tickets are $10 for students/senior citizens and young children, and $12 for adults. They are being sold throughout the week in Ms. Forsgard’s classroom (101) and at all lunches. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door at the night of the show(s).
