A Look at North Attleboro Wrestling

by Joey Cook

The Red Rocketeers’ 2015-2016 Wrestling Season began on November 30th. Led by Coach Griffin and captains Nick Morrison and Mike Gould, the Rocketeers hope to come out strong and be the best team in the Hockomock.

Last season, the Rocketeers finished as Hockomock champions as well as Sectional champs. “Last year we performed very well, but unfortunately we were unable to place top 5 at the state tournament,” said senior Leo Thibeault.

This year, the Rocketeers will compete to try and become the state champions. “This year I want to see the team win a state championship,” said senior Collin Fiske. Fiske added, “We have a lot of great guys on the team who worked very hard this past offseason and I believe that this is the year it’s going to happen.”

On December 10th, the Rocketeers defeated the Sharon Eagles in their first dual meet of the season. “It was great to see our team start off strong in our first meet of the season,” said Captain Nick Morrison. The score was 58-12 in North’s favor. North picked up 7 pins from wrestlers Nick Gould (152), Collin Fiske (160), Brad White (182), Abi Ram (195), Leo Thibeault (220), Brady Folan (106), and Devin Spratt (126). After Sharon, North will go on and face Milford, in Milford’s home gymnasium on December 16th.

North Attleboro’s first home dual meet will take place against Oliver Ames on December 22. “I know our first two dual meets are pretty far away from North. If you can get there, that would be great, but if not I would love to see a Rowdy Crowd to cheer us on for our first home meet against OA,” Morrison also added.
