Apple has made many improvements and additions to its iPhone, with the iPhone 8 and 8 plus being released on September 22nd and the iPhone X, which will be released on Nov. 3.
NAHS senior Nick Haddad says he got his iPhone 8 plus the day it came out.
Haddad explained, “ I am excited for the glass back and wireless charging; I always lose those cords anyways.” He went on to say, “ I think my favorite part is the fact that my battery life will be longer.”
New iPhones are famous for making battery life an improvement every year. Haddad currently has an iPhone 6s, which he got in December 2015.
The price tags for the 8 and 8 plus are $699 and $799 respectively. One new feature is the 3-D face scanning technology, which is much more advanced than the fingerprint scanning.
Year in and year out, Apple continues to outdo themselves by making the iPhone more and more innovative.
However, freshman Matthew Penta has an iPhone 7 and says the new iPhone releases are “pointless” and “a waste of money.”
According to Apple.com, a brand new feature exclusively on the iPhone X is the augmented reality. Augmented reality is technology that superimposes an image so that it looks real to the viewer on screen.
Portrait lighting is a new feature as well. It helps show distinct contrast in pictures and can be altered to the viewers preference. The iPhone X has a whopping $999 price tag.
When asked if it was worth it, NAHS senior Sydney Marchand said, “I don’t think it’s worth that much, but it’s smart of Apple to make it that price because they will make a lot of profit off of it even if not a lot of people buy it.”
There seem to be two distinct opinions that have emerged since the phones have been released, either it’s worth it because it is up to date and has worthy features (glass back, entire front is screen) or it is a waste of money because there aren’t any features that are worth the hefty price tag.
Some people could argue that there are more positives than there are negatives to the new iPhones. There are plenty of new features that justifies the price of them. The good news for Apple is that there’s is always a demand for new iPhones.
