The North Attleboro High School boys soccer team has started the season with a 5-2-6 record, and is looking to make a push for the playoffs.

In their first eight games the team went undefeated, with a record of 2-0-6, with 4 games ending in a 0-0 tie. Big Red soccer Senior Vikram Senthilkumaran said, “Our start to the season was a little slow. We struggled to score, but our defense was great.”

Captain Joe Hilf agreed, saying, “We’ve been playing well as a team, and have one of the strongest defenses in the Hock. We haven’t been the best at scoring, but we’re continuing to increase our chances.”

The squad’s victories include wins over Attleboro, King Phillip, Foxborough, and two wins over Stoughton. Big Red soccer’s losses come against talented Canton and Mansfield teams. The team has six ties, as they tied Taunton, Oliver Ames, Sharon, Hingham, Milford, and Franklin.

The team has five teams left on their schedule, and four of the five are in the Davenport division. Of their Davenport division games, they will face Sharon, Milford, Canton, and Foxborough.

Their only out of division game, which is also the last game of the season, will feature the Red vs. Blue Cup. This is a highly anticipated game every year, and will be even more exciting following a competitive 1-0 win for Big Red earlier in the season. Captain Evan Rosenberg said that the game feels like a playoff game, and when North and Attleboro face off it is always a battle.

The North Attleboro soccer team is pushing to make the playoffs with six games left. They need four points out of their remaining games. A tie will give them one point, while a win will give them two points. The remaining games are crucial for the team, and the boys will look to end the season on a high note.
