North’s Got Talent

Students at North Attleboro High School are buzzing about a new competition coming to NAHS. North’s first-ever North’s Got Talent is being planned for Wednesday, February 13th.

This will be the first North’s Got Talent event to ever take place at NAHS, although there has been a North Idol before. Teachers Mrs. Montagna, Mr. Couture and Mr. Rizzo are planning the event, with Mr. Couture being a big part in the planning process.

North’s Got Talent is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, which is the day before Valentines Day. North’s Got Talent is an evening event and family and friends are all welcome.

The idea for North’s Got Talent was created by Mrs. Montagna. While the idea comes from the television show, America’s Got Talent, filmed at Radio City Music Hall in New York, Mrs. Montagna thought localizing the show could be a great way to include those who aren’t always included at NAHS.

“I wanted to do something like this to showcase students abilities not seen through activities in school,” Mrs. Montagna explained.

Senior at NAHS Matthew Warsofsky agreed, saying, “It’s a very interesting idea and gives people who are unable to participate in a club or activity such as chorus the ability to share their talent with others.”

As for who can participate Mrs. Montagna said that it is “students only right now,” but rules are still being placed so that could change allowing teachers to take part in North’s Got Talent also.

The North’s Got Talent judges will be Mrs. Montagna, Mr. Couture, and Mr. Burgess. The host for the night will be teacher Mr. Rizzo.

There will be a prize for the winner of North’s Got Talent, but no details regarding the prize are being announced just yet.

Auditions for the show will take place the week before winter break, and Mrs. Montagna encourages anyone who’s got talent to audition.

Since the event is still in the planning stages, many students don’t know about it yet, including junior Maya Estrela. However, as auditions are slated to begin within the next month, advertisements should be starting soon.
