Olivia’s Top 5 List of TV Shows

Watching TV is a very popular source of entertainment for many people across the world.  Many of us use it as a release from a long day to take your mind off things. With there being so many different platforms to watch on such as Netflix, Amazon, and just regular networks everyone has their own opinion of what their favorite shows are.  My top five binge worthy shows are:

 

 

  1. This is Us

 

According to Wikipedia, This is Us is an American comedy-drama television series with tragic elements created by Dan Fogelman that premiered on NBC in 2016. This show is a heartwarming and emotional story about a family of triplets with amazing parents. According to Mrs. Violette, an English teacher at North Attleboro High School, “I like how they weave a lot of different characters’ stories together and have storylines about different generations.” 

 

According to NBC, in just a short period of time this show has hit number one for two years in a row.  This show is a perfect show to watch with your family and its really easy to get into.

2. The Office

 

NBC explains The Office is a hilarious documentary style look into humorous and sometimes foolishness that plagues the world of a 9-5 paper company. This show is an American sitcom that aired on NBC in 2005 and had aired for  nine seasons before ending in 2013.  While running, this show had amazing reviews and everyone loved the idea behind it. 

 

According to Mariah Daniels, a senior at North Attleboro High School she says,”I like the office so much because they have really funny jokes that make me laugh and it’s a show you can watch over and over again and not get sick of it.” I would recommend watching this show if you want to have a good laugh. Between all the pranks and other shenanigans, this show is nothing more than a good time and perfect to watch with a friend.  

3. New Girl 

 

 

According to Wikipedia, New Girl is an American television comedy created by Elizabeth Meriwether, and is about interpersonal adventures of a small town girl who moved into a loft in the big city and moved in with a group of guys. This show aired in 2011 and continued for seven seasons ending in 2018. While being on air New Girl had one of many awards including, critics choice television in 2011, critics choice television in 2012, telly award for tv programs in 2012, and teen choice award in 2012.  

When asked why she likes the show so much Kyla Rodrigues says, “ it is so funny because I like how they all live together in an apartment and have the best time ever with no rules.” People love this show because of the humor and creative story line.  

 

 

4. Friends 

 

Friends is an American comedy tv show about six 20-somethings living in the big city of Manhattan and all the crazy situations they get into together. The show was created by David Krane and Marta Kauffman, and aired in 1994 and lasted 10 seasons until it ended in 2004. Many people enjoy this show and still watch it today. When asked why she enjoys this show so much NAHS senior Taylor Gorman explains, “ It’s funny and sometimes can be very relatable and I like the connection between the characters.” This show just hit its 25 year anniversary this year and still as popular as it’s ever been before. Such a great show to watch to just decompress from a long day and it’s truly something you can watch over and over again.  

 

 

5. Grey’s Anatomy 

 

According to the National Institute of Health, Grey’s Anatomy is a medical drama that follows the professional and personal lives of the doctors at a hospital set in Seattle. This show was created by Shonda Rimes, it aired in 2005 and is currently on its 16th season and still running today. Greys Anatomy has a very interesting storyline and it’s the type of show that has you sitting on the edge of your seat waiting to see what’s going to happen next.  

When asked how she feels about Grey’s Anatomy 18 year old Isabella Erti,” I really like the seasons 1-9, but once everyone started to die I didn’t enjoy the show as must as I used to.”
