President Biden’s Historic Inauguration

Yesterday, Joe Biden’s inauguration ceremony took place, making Biden our 46th United States President. While no viewer will forget such a historic event unlike any other, some details were more eye-catching and compelling than others.

First and foremost, Biden’s inauguration is one of the few at which the former president did not show. Donald Trump was spotted taking a plane to Florida after earlier making a statement that he would not attend. The Guardian stated, “Whatever his post-presidency life entails, it will unfold at Trump’s Mar-A-Lago resort in Palm Beach.” However, former Vice President Mike Pence was in attendance for Biden’s ceremony, despite Trump’s absence.

Another highlight of this special event was Amanda Gorman’s poetry piece, making her the youngest Inaugural poet in history at the age of 22. Her poem, “The Hill We Climb”, is an original composition from the Harvard graduate, who says she has plans to run for president in 2036.

The final important highlight of the Presidential Inauguration was the large increase in security. President Biden and his family walked to the White House surrounded with more security than any other president before due to the recent civil unrest in Washington DC. Fortunately, everyone made it down Pennsylvania Avenue safely.

Since the Inauguration, Joe Biden has rejoined the Paris Agreement and signed an order to mandate mask-wearing on federal property. As the president himself has said: “it’s time to build back better.”
