Renee Hamilton is a currently a junior at the North Attleboro High School. She has performed at multiple theater companies since she began acting at age nine. As for her future plans, Renee hopes to attend a college in New York City and eventually pursue a career on the stage.
“One day, at the age of two, I was scampering around my house, jumping on the couch, and behaving like a crazy little kid. My dad was in the living room with me, perusing the television channels, when he stumbled across a filmed production of the musical ‘Kiss me Kate.’ I instantly stopped what I was doing and gazed into television screen. I was completely transfixed by the performance. The sets, costumes, and the live musical numbers amazed my young self. I sat there with my eyes fixed upon the television screen for the next two hours.”
“In that moment, my father knew I would grow up to become a theater fanatic and his prediction could not have been more accurate. I have been doing theater for almost eight years now, and I cannot imagine my life without it. At the age of nine, I went to go see ‘Wicked’ at the Providence Performing Arts Centre for my mother’s birthday in December. I instantly fell in love. I watched the actors on the stage with utter amazement. I turned to my parents after the curtain fell and I said, ‘I wanna do that.’ Two months later my parents took me to my first audition for a production of ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ and the rest is history.”
“I’ve made some of the greatest friendships of my life doing theater. With each production I have performed in, my cast mates have become my family and when the show finally comes together, it’s SO rewarding. As each show comes together you are able to actually see the products of your own hard work. There truly is nothing I love more.Theater has become such a huge part of my life and I’d be so lost without it.”
