  1. Slime

In the year 2017-2018, slime was a big trend that some teachers like Mrs. Violette had to ban slime in class. Much like fidget spinners, slime gives many attention-challenged people a way to relieve their stress and focus up. Students would make their own slime and then sell it to other students to make a huge profit. On YouTube and Instagram, there were accounts that had over 1 million followers and the videos would be of them making or playing with slime. After 2-3 weeks, slime rose from being nothing to what every girl was talking about.

2. Fortnite

Fortnite was released on July 21, 2017, and it took the world by storm. A few months after the release it was the buzz at NAHS. Almost every boy in the school played the game and talked about it. The game was so intriguing because it was the first game that you could build walls and ramps for protection from the enemy. Everyone would record their cool clips from their games and then share them with each other throughout the day.

Senior William Yeomans says, “I loved to play in the first three seasons of the game. My friends and I would stay up all night playing the game and trying to get the win.”

3. Bottle Flip

In the 2016-2017 school year, bottle flipping became huge. Before no one knew that if you had a ¼ filled water bottle you could flip it and it could land. In 2016 a vine came out of a kid at a school talent show walking out to 300 violin orchestra and landing the bottle on the beat drop. He then proceeded to walk off the stage without saying a word and that is where it all started. When it first became popular, it was so hard to be to land it everyone would try and no one would be able to do it. After a few months of bottle flipping, it became a lot easier and the new trend was landing it on the cap which is extremely hard, you have to have the right amount of water and the right amount of spin to be able to pull it off. I still see people flipping water bottles every single day at the high school.

4. Sweatpants and Sock Tucks

The sweatpants and sock tuck trend became extremely popular in the 2018-2019 year. All the girls and boys would wear sweatpants and sweatshirts and then tuck their pants into their socks making then a form of joggers. For girls lacrosse, they would wear groutfits and then they would all tuck their pants into their socks. This trend is still popular at NAHS.

Senior Jack Connolly of North Attleboro High School says, “It is very comfortable and it looks cool.”

5. TikTok

Originally Musical.ly, TikTok, which it is now called, was released in 2016, but maxresdefault (2).jpgjust started to blow up in the summer of 2019. TikTok is a new version of the app Vine, where you can make videos longer than 7 seconds and you can use other people’s audios to create your own video. When walking around the school, you can see girls and guys watching or creating TikToks.

Senior Mariah Daniels a senior at North Attleboro High School says, “I like TikTok because it has really funny videos and it lets me express myself, it is also very addicting.”
